What to wear to work: Casual Fridays

I had my first ever Casual Friday this past week and while I was stoked (omg, finally a break from pencil skirts! Full, long gaits here I come!), it quickly became clear I had no idea what a cross between weekend comfort and office friendly would look like. 

My normal weekend uniform of slouchy tees and jean shorts were out of the question (although I think donning a blazer on top could pass in a less conservative work place) and it was too hot for a pair of skinny jeans.  I wanted something breezy and casual enough to wear to drinks at Levi o'clock (which I've recently learned is code for 5:01 pm) yet provides enough coverage to avoid any awkward conversations with HR.  

And that's when this shirt dress came to the rescue.  All the conservatism of a button up + all the comfort of a sweater dress.  Casual Friday, you just got served. 

PS - While I paired my outfit with sandals today, depending on your work environment, it might make sense to slip on a pair of pumps while in the office instead.
