What to wear: To a Daytime Wedding

This was an outfit I recently wore to a friend's daytime wedding reception. I was looking for something casual (to match the relaxed vibe of the reception) but elevated enough to celebrate their special day. So when I happened upon this top at Ted Baker, I knew I had hit a gold mine. The jewelled neckline instantly adds polish to the outfit while the crop top keeps it fresh and on trend.

It also pairs beautifully with a range of bottoms - an airy, flowery skirt like the one pictured here or these culottes (with a white blazer for work) or even a pair of high waisted silk shorts (with these sky high, caged heels and a drape-y vest for a more dramatic look for the night).  And because you can dress it up in so many ways, it doesn't get relegated to the back of your closet like all the other cocktail dresses.

PS - This outfit is also perfect to wear to bridal/baby showers or a colleague's wedding - nothing too strappy or revealing because god knows no one wants to have that awkward water cooler conversation the next morning. Unless you went a little cray at the open bar, then well... even this outfit can't save you.

Top: Ted Baker (especially love this and this super affordable version!)
Skirt: Zara
Heels: Cole Haan

  1. The pictures and view from their website made us excited to see it, so we booked an appointment and found that these guys do not treat you like just some paycheck. The manager and chef from Chicago wedding venues were really amazing.
